One more post from Newport, Rhode Island, from last summer, a place that feels especially magical in the warmer months. Colorful houses, the ocean breeze, and, of course, hydrangeas everywhere you look.

We spent the afternoon wandering the streets, surrounded by bright New England houses and endless blooms in every shade of blue and violet, before heading out onto the water with the kids. The outfit was easy and relaxed, perfect for a day that went from exploring town to enjoying the boat.

Noah wasn’t entirely convinced about the boat ride at first. He was a little skeptical as we pulled away from the dock, watching everything carefully. But once we picked up a bit of speed and the first splash of water hit us, his attitude changed completely. Suddenly, he was into it, and the bigger the splash, the better.

It ended up being one of those perfect summer days: colorful streets, salty air, and a little adventure on the water with the kids. Exactly what a Newport summer should feel like.
