When the first snow fell on the ground, we knew the day couldn’t pass without heading outside, especially with the sleigh waiting in the basement.

Bundled up in winter coats, hats pulled low, and mittens snug on little hands, we headed out together. The kids’ excitement was impossible to miss, even though it was very, very cold (Caroline was the one who didn’t last very long outside). The first snow always brings out a special kind of joy, wide smiles, and rosy cheeks.

We pulled the sleigh across snowy paths, stopping often for snowball tosses and the occasional tumble into the snow. Each ride was met with requests for “just one more” from Noah, and somehow, there was always room for another lap.

The simple act of being outside turned into a memory we’ll carry long after the snow melts.

As the cold finally sent us all back indoors, we peeled off wet boots and snowy layers, warming up in cozy clothes with happy hearts. Sometimes, the best moments come from stepping outside, embracing the cold, letting kids be kids, and unleashing the kids in us, too.

Here’s to the first snow, full hearts, and sleigh rides that turn ordinary winter days into unforgettable memories.
