Some outfits start with a single piece, the one item that sets the tone and decides everything else that follows. For this look, it was this long grey trench coat. The moment I bought it this fall, I knew it deserved a full monochrome moment.

A grey trench that feels both classic and modern has a way of making even the simplest outfit look intentional. With the trench as my starting point, I built the rest of the look around cool, layered greys. I slipped into a pair of grey jeans, which added a relaxed structure and kept the outfit grounded. Then came a thin, cozy sweater layered underneath, soft, simple, and the perfect base for a little surprise detail.

To keep the monochrome story strong, I added a grey bag and grey pumps, letting different textures: denim, wool, and leather create depth without introducing new colors. When you stick to one shade, the details become the design, and this outfit was all about subtleties: tone, texture, and long lines.

However, every good neutral look needs a moment of contrast. For mine, I added a Bittersweet Collars silk collar tucked under the sweater. It’s small, but with its ample ruffles, it changes everything. Understated yet eye-catching, the kind of detail that doesn’t shout but still gets noticed.

The result is a look that’s calm, refined, and quietly bold.
