And the big day for Caroline has come on 8 July when she was Christened in our church under the eyes of our families and friends.
For this event, I wanted to organize something special so I planned a garden party for 30 people in our backyard.
The easy part was to make the guest list and all I wanted on the menu. The hard part was to find all the vintage flatware and china (it is very hard to find a big set these days so I had to mix and match 3 sets that I thought work great together and with the rest of the setting).
The first things I did were the invitations and the table name tags see the previous post Here. For the invitations, I wanted something floral and feminine completed with a paper made envelopes and sealed with a “C” monogrammed wax seal.
The overall colors used for the table decoration were pink - blush and white with some derivatives shades.
My choice for the flowers? Pink and blush roses, Hydrangeas, blush daisies and some greens. Flowers make everything look wonderful and I wanted something not very complicated or bold colors.
Also on the table were clear crystal candle holders with tall white candles and some smaller candles in between (you can never have too many candles, right?).
As the finishing touches on the table, I used white cotton napkins rolled with a pink embroidered ribbon and a small green leaf.
A vintage floral couch and 2 antique velvet yellow chairs were set on the side of the table as an area for conversation and gathering before and after the dinner.
And finally, the outfits! I was wearing a custom-made floral shirt dress, and Caroline a vintage batiste christening dress, leather white shoes from Here and an eyelet bonnet also from Etsy. Sorry, no vintage or custom made for you boys :)
The weather (the only thing we couldn’t plan for) was exactly what we wanted! No humidity and below 85F. Everything was wonderful and we enjoyed the evening until the night came down and we stayed even later under the candlelight...
As the first event of this proportion, I am more than happy with the result and we intend to create more outdoor gatherings like this for different occasions.
